Just a few more days here in San Diego and then we're off to California. Things, for the most part, have been AMAZING. We've been doing a lot of stuff with fans, rehearsing (/getting into trouble) and promoting...
Speaking of that bit, the girl who normally plays Wendla? Yeah, she wasn't feeling too well, so she couldn't make this promotional event. Thing. On the San Diego news. I went in for it (... woo being an understudy?) and, well..this. It doesn't typically sound like that, but I like that arrangement a little more. Possibly because Kyle does amazing things with a guitar and he's a great singer.
But it also reminds me of discussions backstage involving the Melchior/Wendla relationship and how..., er. Special it is. Since, you know, he beat her with that switch (at her insistence!) and ended up liking it. A lot. AND SO DID SHE. I blame the repressed sexual urges that are completely different for both of them -- she knows nothing and is all "!!! I AM CUTE AND INNOCENT AND LIKE A FAIRY" and he's a RADICAL and knows way too much for his own good. But... has experienced nothing. And wants to like, badly, like any other teenage boy. And when Wendla asked him to givez her sexytiem and... well. He did.
"Something in me started when I hit you..."
"Something started in me too!"
Which... leads to inappropriate touching and actions. Yup. And in modern-times they'd probably be into all sorts of whips and nipple clips and candlewax, occasionally switching up who's the one in control which freaks Melchior out because Wendla's supposed to be innocent and not this crazy bitch. But he does like it, of course, because he's a bit of a perv like that. And, hey. She's hot. Why complain? He does like it more when the roles aren't like that, but hey! He'll take what he can get. He'd also probably be the sort to be a whore and sleep around and learn as much as he can and all of that and Wendla's like UHM WHAT? Okay, whatever. And goes off to be cute and collect flowers and stuff.
I need to sleep more. And stop talking to people because they do nothing but get me into trouble.

On the topic of weddings:
I'm getting married after graduation to someone who is very, very near and dear to my heart. You see, this person has been a very important part of my life for a very very long time, especially these past few months, and they mean the world to me. Graduation means fresh starts and new beginnings, doesn't it? And what better way to start the post-high school life than with somebody you care so deeply about? I know that's how I want to start my life. I should go shopping for dresses and the like! Maybe next time I'm out with my mother we'll go looking for my Big Day as well.
That being said, Barbara Baker will make me a very happy woman indeed. I'm sure of it.
